July 25, 2007: Cards, Inc., now Popco - Luna Lovegood and Thestral

Hello Again! Ryan Here with another Review. This time with Popco’s (was Cards Inc but the name’s been changed) Luna Lovegood and Thestral 2 pack!

This Figure is only available to the UK but The Sylvan Lane Shoppe is carrying the line! Currently Harry and Malfoy are available so if want these you better act fast because these are going faster than the Hogwarts Express! LOL! (Click Here to see the Cards, Inc. Line!)

The Figure of Luna Lovegood Scores 4 Stars out of 4. She is very detailed and looks just like Evanna Lynch who portrays Luna in the Movie. This Figure has 14 points of Articulation, The Head, Arms, Mid Arms, Wrists, Waist, Upper Leg, Mid Leg, and above the Foot. The Feet however are posed strangely, the right leg is shorter than the left, but this is a good way to have an “action pose” and make it more secure to stand. Luna has her cork necklace and orange earrings (radishes? lol.) Her wand is detailed and looks exactly like the one from the movie. The skirt is a good feature, instead of it being a rubber it is a denim-like material. Overall this is a very great Figure and looks great with the entire Popco Range of Harry Potter Figures!

The Thestral earns 3 out of 4 Stars. The reason he lost a star is because his wings are a gray nylon. This is excellent for Playing, and Posing but Lacks as good of detail as what is on the Silver Screen on its wings. Other than the Wings the entire figure has wonderful sculpting. Its Face is wonderfully sculpted and painted like the Movie Thestrals. The Thestral Figure has a lot of Articulation, The Head, Mouth, Upper Legs, Mid Legs, and Feet; it also has a bendable Tail. The figure is kind of hard to pose and have stand it takes a few minutes but it looks great displayed next to Luna and the entire Harry Potter collection.

Hello All! Ryan Here in My First Figure Review Ever!

Let’s get started with NECA's Order of The Phoenix Series 1 Harry Potter.

Harry Potter is a great Action Figure in the already popular Action Figure Series by NECA. He stands around 6.5 inches tall and carries his Trusty Wand. This Figure is Wonderfully Sculpted giving an excellent Likeness to actor Daniel Radcliffe, who portrays Harry in the Film Series.

The Paint is rather all right. The Sweater is a dark blue with Black detailing on the shadows and such. The pants are painted Dark Grey and the color of the skin tone is almost the same color as Harry on the Big Screen. The Paint on the glasses however is rather murky and you can’t really see his eyes.

One downfall to this figure is Articulation. The left arm has a “cut joint” which means it can only move in an up or down motion, causing a rather strange look if you want to pose him holding his wand down. This figure was made really for only one pose. The right arm articulation is a ball joint, which means you can move it around in several directions. The head is a ball joint but gets caught in the shirt and tie, which leaves him with only side-to-side articulation. The bottom half is only articulated at the waist by a ball joint under the sweater. This gives a very good way to move Harry around. His legs though are unarticulated but that lets him stand better and he is more secure as a result.

This figure also comes with a standard black oval base being used with all of the Order of the Phoenix Figures, unlike the Trilogy Series, which includes Diorama Bases. Harry also includes the head and arms of a BAF (Build-A-Figure), which is of the Death Eater Dummy as seen in the 5th Movie in the Room of Requirement.

Overall I give this figure a 4.5/5. It lost points for articulation, but beyond that this figure is superb in detail and look. It has to be the best Potter Figure out there at the current time.
