5/15/00 - NEWSFLASH!!  This just in from Yahoo News:

Movies coming this summer:
Summer 2000 boasts an unprecedented amount of family fare, with eight films trying to dig deep into mom and dad's pocketbooks. Of those eight, a record seven use some form of animation to tell their stories: "Dinosaur," "Fantasia 2000," "Titan A.E.," "Chicken Run," "The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle," "Pokemon 2," and "Thomas and the Magic Railroad."

After a three week respite from animated fare, Warner Bros.' "Pokemon 2" arrives. The film is the sequel to the successful "Pokemon the Movie," which debuted with a solid $31 million in November. Burger King will launch a three-week promotion for "Pokemon 2" prior to its release.

 

4/17/00 - A New Burger King Pokemon Promo!

The Pojo has confirmed that Burger King has signed a deal for another Pokemon Promotion to coincide with the next Pokemon Movie, Pokemon 2000 The Movie, which is being released in July!  

Sean, a BK Manager,  sends us this:  Burger King is going to have a new Promo in July that will have 24 new and different Pokemon toys ..We are supposed to get samples within the next two weeks of these toys ..but the promo is a definite!

NO POKEMON TOYS AT HAWAII BK'S

3/20:  From CAPTSTORMY in Hawaii:  We are being told here in Hawaii that there will be no Pokemon Toys in Hawaii. This is a very big injustice.  We are part of the United States of America.  Something should be done about this.  It is very unfair for the kids to watch the BK commercials on TV and not be able to get any toys.   Thank you for all your information and hope that something is done about this unfairness by BK. 

3/15:  This is just in from Tribble in Canada!

I just got a Psyduck.  It had the number 486056782 on the bag, but I don't
know if that number is the same in the States (I'm from Canada).  Also, just
an interesting note, in Canada the bags say $2.00 (Cdn.) Off Video Purchase along the top, but if you look at the coupon, in the fine print it says Coupon good only in the USA.  However, given that the coupons are supposed to be sent by the retailer to an address in Ontario and that they are written in both English and French, I'm assuming that's just a typo.
(Especially because the French version of the small print says coupon good only in Canada).  :-)

3/13:  We ordered 2 Kids Meals today and received a Muk Key Chain in one and a Nidoran Launcher in the other, both the same toys as from the first time around.  Instead of individual cards being packed in with the toy, there is a $2.00 off coupon for purchasing Pokemon:  The First Movie on VHS or DVD, and an entry form for the contest that participating BK's are having.  You can't see through the bags to tell what toy you're getting, and I couldn't find any of the old code numbers on these new bags!  On the new bags there is a long number in tiny print at the bottom -  See our growing list of numbers, below!

I asked the employees if there were going to be new toys this time, and if they were going to do the 23K Gold Cards again, but they didn't seem to know much!  They weren't sure about either question!

Hi.  I picked up a Poliwhirl beanbag this morning.  At the bottom, in fine print is a set of numbers.  They are 554089153.  I picked up a Squirtle squirter at lunch time.  The numbers on it are, 257287951.  Let me know if these numbers mean anything.

I forgot to ask at the first BK about the Sweepstakes.  At the second BK I asked and they were clueless.  I opened the Squirtle package and showed them the insert.  They were totally surprised and had no idea.  They thought maybe they would hear about it later.  I told them to find out if they are participating or not from their manager.

A Press Release issued Fri. March 10th by Burger King Confirmed the Pokemon Promotion !  

They have confirmed that it will be a 2-week run, same toys, $2.00 off coupon towards the movie, and everything else we've reported here!

We have heard that BK is going to have the same toys in this second promo as the first, only in different packaging because of the Poke Ball Recall, for a 2-week run.  We also have unconfirmed reports that there are some BK's selling the 23K Gold Cards, same ones as from the first promo.  And we've heard that BK will be giving out a coupon good towards the purchase of Pokemon:  The Movie. If you have any interesting news or rumors Email us!  Read what our visitors have heard so far:

I just saw in a BK window that the new promotion will be starting on the 13th. It said one more chance to catch them all with the pictures of the same toys as the last promotion which leads me to believe they are doing the same ones. I know that any left over toys any of the BK's had were supposed to be sent back to the home office (or wherever) so maybe they are just going to do
the same toys. Who knows!!

I just saw a Burger King near my house (I live in Indianapolis, In.) putting up posters in the window w/ Pokemon characters on it and when I asked the manager if they are starting the Pokemon promotion back up his comments were this:

 "I'm not allowed to say, but
what ever happens you'll find out soon".

I don't know but this sounds like it to me and with all the the posters they were putting in the drive thru windows I'll say that I'm a big believer that they will soon be here!

Burger King Toy Replacement Policy

If you have a Light-Up toy that doesn't light up or a Talking Pikachu that doesn't talk, Burger King may be able to replace it for you!  Call Martha Ramirez, BK's Supervisor of Consumer Relations at (305) 378-3535.  If you can't get through to her, log onto http://www.burgerking.com/, click on the administrator key at the bottom of the page, and send Ms. Ramirez an email.  BK can't guarantee that they have replacements for every toy, but if you are REALLY nice and ask politely, you may get lucky!!

March 21st has been confirmed as the release date of "Pokemon:  The Movie" on Home Video and DVD!

Burger King Pokemon Promotion #1

On November 8th, 1999,  Burger King started offering Pokemon toys with every Big Kid's Meal!

Want to know which toy is inside the bag??  The Burger King Pokemon Poke Ball bags are marked!  Click here for the codes! 

There are 57 different Pokemon inside a Poke Ball that has a clip on it. There are 8 different assortments (1 assortment per week for 8 weeks) of 8 figures!  Each of the toys found inside the Poke Ball is either a Beanbag, Key Ring, Launcher, Light-Up, Squirter, Rev-Top or a Talking Plush!  We have compiled a list of each toy, which type of toy it is, and the assortment (week) it belongs to here!

Also,  there are 151 trading cards exclusive to Burger King that are inside the plastic bag with the Pokeball, as well as a mini checklist.  The back of the trading cards feature one of ten scenes from "Pokemon: The First Movie".  Print out a checklist here!

Starting on November 15th, there will be a 23-Karat Gold Plated Trading Card Promotion!

Six Gold Plated Trading Cards will be available for $1.99 with the purchase of any Value Meal. Toys will be available November 15 - December 31, 1999 at participating restaurants, or while supplies last. Each card is safely contained in a clear plastic case and packaged in a mechanized metallic Poke Ball. A sealed certificate of authenticity signed by the Chairman of Nintendo of America is enclosed with each gold plated card.
The six featured characters are Pikachu, Mewtwo, Jigglypuff, Poliwhirl, Charizard and Togepi.  NOTE: Charizard is ONLY available as a 23 Karat Gold Plated Trading Card, while the other 5 Pokémon characters are also featured as a toy in the Kids Meal promotion.  

The 23k Gold Cards were re-started in a red box series a couple of weeks.  They are the same 23K Gold Cards as the first set.

A WARNING from the PIRG Organization (Public Interest Research Group) - Some of the BK Pokemon Toys are not suitable for children under 3.

HINTS!!   

The PIKACHU'S (#34-10, 35-10 & 36-10) come in a larger sized Pokeball than the other toys!  (Thanks, Sean!)

MEW'S POKEBALL is PURPLE!  Like in the movie!  It's shaped like a Poké Ball and has the keychain attachment, but the two halves are the same without the button to open it. The container is like a transparent bubble and since Mew is a lightup toy you can turn on the light (the eyes glow red) and put it back in the ball!

11-16: PLEASE NOTE:   We have a report of Chancey in 73-15 and Raichu in 74-15.   Has anyone else found any other differences?

are searching for a Gengar. The Gengar pokeball is also a trifle bigger then

RAICHU comes in a larger poke-ball, and in 3 parts (you put his tail together) Our RAICHU'S tails were facing the opposite way (there was no other way the tail would fit in), they pass over his head instead of towards his back.  Thanks to L4J

We have just heard from Bryson in Canada, who says the numbers on the bags there are different than what we have listed!  If any of our Canadian Pokemon fans could send in their bag numbers/toy inside, we'd like to post a separate list for these!

PIKACHU has a little velcro flap sewn in on the back. Thought at first maybe it was to change batteries, but there's no opening or anything in the flap. Does anyone have any idea why there's a flap?  Thanks to Lothar for asking this question!  Anyone have any answer??
